Dr. Smith brings practical AI and technology capability directly to FBC members. Working closely with the Director, he contributes to the design, development, and delivery of the Center’s seminars and workshops — content, session materials, and the refinements that come from watching what actually lands in a room of family business owners.

He conducts AI readiness assessments for member businesses and develops the practical, vendor-neutral recommendations that follow, in partnership with the Director. At live meetings, seminars, and workshops he is the person at the front of the room running the AI Live Lab — taking a member’s real operational problem and working it on screen with working tools — and the person at the back helping a member with a technical question. Members of every technical background will find him patient and service-oriented.

A long-standing research collaborator of Dr. Fryer’s, Dr. Smith co-authors the Center’s applied research and co-hosts the FBC Podcast, launching in the fourth quarter of 2026. He is committed to the FBC’s mission and to CBU’s Christ-centered values.
